In 1884, Leon Breitling opened a workshop in Switzerland specialising in creating time pieces for industry and science. In 1915 the first wristwatch chronograph was manufactured to provide pilots with accurate and professional timekeeping. By 1936 Breitling had become the official supplier to the Royal Airforce, marking the start of a longstanding cooperation with international aviation.

The Breitling Cockpit watch, Breitling Starliner watch and Breitling Blackbird watch all stem from the Windrider collection. Developed for an elite flight team of the Italian air force, The Breitling Chronomat watch is self winding and has been described as possibly the world’s most reliable movement as it is propelled by the Breitling Calibre 13. The Breitling Cockpit watch has been built to withstand pressures of 1000ft, and at the same time has been designed to be a sturdy and functional timepiece.

The Breitling Professional watches are specifically tailored to the world of aviation. The Breitling Emergency watch contains built-in Micro transmitter broadcasting in the 121.5MHz aircraft SOS frequency. The Breitling Airwolf watch is equipped with a turbine shaped construction on the case back, which serves as a resonance chamber  for the audible indications, including the alarm function. Another watch to mention from the Professional Collection would be the Breitling Skyracer Watch which contains the new Calibre 27 movement, which exclusively enables dual visualisation of measured times. And finally, the Breitling Aeromarine watches, the largest of the 4 watch families. All of the watches in this range meet the strictest Breitling criteria in terms of sturdiness and reliability.
