The Tag Heuer Grand Carrera range continues Tag’s celebration of motorsport with a range of watches jointly inspired by GT engine design and their own original 1964 Carrera. All the items in this range carry the RS designation, relating to Tag Heuer’s Rotating System, which replaces traditional watch hands with rotating disks. The visual effect is similar to that of dials on a car dashboard, and allows for a much easier reading of the increments displayed. The Grand Carrera Calibre 6 RS (pictured) has a fine-brushed steel case and bezel, with curved faceted polished horns. You can see it features the aforementioned Rotating System at 6 o’clock, displaying the short second with elegance and optimum readability. Other Tag Heuer watches in the range feature multiple Rotating Systems to display additional information.
Undoubtedly, the jewel in the Tag Heuer Grand Carrera watch range is the Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Concept Chronograph. The watch was designed in collaboration with legendary car designer Ken Okuyama, the man responsible for such automotive works of art as the Ferrari Enzo and the Maserati Quattroporte, and is able to measure and display increments of 1/10 of a second. As for styling, it has all the usual automotive inspirations common to the range, housed within a stylish carbide-coated, black aluminium case. |
