The famous diver’s timepiece, the Breitling Superocean was launched in 1957 and was originally designed to equip professional and military divers. This endorsement meant it quickly gained a following among enthusiasts in the world of leisure diving, which has been maintained for decades. Breitling has now updated the legendary collection with the Breitling Superocean II Abyss. A higher depth of water resistance from the original is not the only change (the original was water resistant to 200m) as it features a far higher specification with an entirely revamped design and is available in five different colours; Abyss Silver (pictured), Abyss Red, Abyss Blue, Abyss Black and Abyss Yellow.
The Breitling Superocean II collection is available with a steel bracelet or rubber strap, oversized Superluminova hand and hour markers. The steel case size is unchanged at 42mm and has a uni-directional ratcheted bezel with cambered sapphire crystal glass, which is glare proofed on both sides. The twenty five jewel movement is self winding and beats at an incredible 28,800 vibration per hour and also incorporates a calendar. This time piece is a born diver. It is water-resistant to 1,500 metres with the screw locked down and has all the attributes of a professional instrument, with features like a helium escape valve, a decompression system which allows helium to escape inside the watch when the it is worn professionally, for example in compression chambers, long underwater work and crude oil exploration. Professional divers interested in Breitling watches need look no further than the Breitling Superocean. |
