This limited edition version of the iconic Carrera Calibre 1887 commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR victory in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana. TAG Heuer’s links with motor sports is unrivalled, and with this tribute to one of the most famous racing cars of its time, the TAG Heuer 300 SLR is truly a must have for any sports car enthusiast.
This modern interpretation of the classic 60’s watch is unique, whilst remaining reminiscent of the original, highly distinguished timepiece. One of the most distinctive features of the 300 SLR is its fume-coloured dial.  The metallic bronze dial has a remarkable degrade pattern; the darker brown fading towards the centre giving the dial a dome-like effect. The orange highlights on the centre chronograph hand and at each of the hour markers marry perfectly with the soft brown tones of the dial and strap. The strap itself is bespoke calf skin leather with a textured finish, giving a vintage feel, complete with a zesty orange lining on the inside. The 300 SLR is the epitome of style; the winning combination of that cool sporty edge, mixed with a touch of vintage class is symptomatic of the Mercedes 300 SLR itself.
The case itself is a 41mm fine brushed and polished stainless steel in the classic Carrera style, but what makes this time piece unequivocally exceptional is the elaborately engraved case back. Of course, the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR is featured, as is the renowned Heuer logo. The watch itself features technology at the forefront of its field, utilizing the new TAG Heuer Calibre 1887 movement, and encompasses a domed sapphire crystal with double sided anti reflective treatment.
