Nick and Giles English are the co-founders of the prestigious Bremont Watch Company. The brothers have recently confirmed their support towards the Royal Navy’s unique collection of historical aircrafts. The project has revealed Bremont’s bold entrepreneurial and philanthropic initiative to underpin the survival and promotion of the nation’s Naval aviation heritage for future generations. Throughout the world military organisations are entering into partnerships and collaborative ventures with ambassadors, entrepreneurs and industry to preserve valuable national assets.
Bremont is considered to be one of the most successful watch companies in the world, having won numerous awards for their developments in horology. The company has a strong association with the pioneering days of early aviation and is a supplier of watches to military squadrons around the world. In addition to watches, Bremont has created a unique Marine Chronometer clock which is to be built in the United Kingdom. Bremont has agreed to contribute a sizeable donation from all revenues of this clock to the Fly Navy Heritage Trust.
Bremont prides itself on the specially designed sapphire crystals displayed on each of the BC-F1 timepieces; with a convex shape and anti-reflective coatings applied to both sides of the glass it is clear to see why the watches are admired. Untreated crystals can allow light to reflect back, which can reduce the legibility of the watch dial. The coating has a strategically calculated thickness and is also specially treated to maintain a hardness of close to 2000Hv. Bremont’s BC-F1 watches took their inspiration from the founders’ love of vintage fuel gauges and clocks traditionally found in vintage wartime aircrafts.
