I got up close and personal with the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M 30mm watch. Spoiler alert: it’s not just diamond lady’s watch. It’s a slice of technical wizardry wrapped up in a suit of Sedna™ Gold armour. Want to know more? Here’s my take…
We can all rattle off a long list of big names responsible for leading the horological realm into the vast and exciting space it is today. However, the truth is that seldom does a brand have what it takes to truly nail the ladies' watch. When I say “nail it”, I don’t mean shrinking the case size down and showering it with a handful of diamonds. I’m talking about brands that go all out, equipping their ladies' watches with a state-of-the-art movement and completely understating the importance of balancing technical sophistication with beauty.

OMEGA shows it understands this. It’s not just the brand that gave us the Moonwatch. It gave us the celebratory Olympic timers. It gave us the Seamaster watches, styled on the wrist of Mr Cool himself, James Bond. It gave us METAS-certified movements and proprietary materials to choose from, and a treasure trove of delights from the Aqua Terra collection – a series of timepieces that blended horological credibility with beauty long before it was fashionable to do so. If you’re a collector, that really stands for something.
OMEGA - Getting Women’s Watches Right
I can’t talk about my fascination with true horological masterpieces for women without mentioning the Constellation collection, because it was the one design that got me hooked on women’s watches from the get-go. Before that, all I could see were dainty, delicate-looking watches that lacked all the technical complexity of their larger male counterparts. And, believe me when I say, there is nothing more insulting than a brand offering a much smaller but less technical version of its former self and labelling it “the lady’s version”.
The Constellation collection, however, launched in the 1950s, and even back then, these watches were being fitted with certified chronometers, which was a huge deal. For me, the Constellation was the gateway drug that made me realise that OMEGA treated female wrists the same as male ones. Even a decade ago, when I first began reviewing watches, that was a rarity. The bottom line: OMEGA respects females as collectors, not as consumers. In that same vein, the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M line is built on this principle.
My Review of the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M 30mm 220.55.30.20.55.001
The OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M 30mm watch is a wolf in glamorous clothing. Its case is made entirely from 18k Sedna™ Gold. And here’s why this proprietary metal is a key selling point for OMEGA. If you’ve ever owned a rose gold watch that faded on you, you’ll be all too familiar with that undesirable brassy tone. OMEGA develops its Sedna™ Gold using a secret formulation that will keep the case of this lady’s Aqua Terra watch looking warm and rich for years to come. And while some all-gold watches can look ostentatious, this Seamaster doesn’t.

Somehow, its 30mm size has just enough presence without taking over my wrist and, even better, it feels weighty. I’m not one for watches that feel flimsy, and while I can appreciate the benefits of wearing a lightweight sports watch for daily use, nothing instils the natural feeling of “quality” quite like a bit of substance on the wrist.
Also crafted from 18ct Sedna™ Gold is the bracelet, soft and fluid, and polished in a way that makes light dance off its surface without being too flashy.
I mentioned earlier that a woman’s watch should not be defined by how many dazzling diamonds are thrown at it. But in the case of the lady’s OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M watch, the technical features are all there, so diamonds are a welcome treat.

The diamonds in this lady's watch seamlessly integrate into the design, extending from the delicate diamond hour markers on the dial to the flashes of brilliance that adorn the bezel. Here’s where the diamond detailing in this watch differs from that of many other competitors. They don’t look bolted onto the design, like an afterthought. Instead, OMEGA create a delicate halo around the dial without making it look like a disco ball. The stones sparkle enough to remind you of the indulgence that is quite evidently there, but at the same time, OMEGA doesn’t use the diamonds as a shortcut to luxury.
The dial of the new OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M 30mm Ladies watch is its fair share of heavy lifting, too. It’s an iridescent blanket of mother-of-pearl. Tilt your wrist one way and you get cool blue waters. Tilt it the other way and it warms into pinks and creams. This private light show of shades and texture never repeats itself. The delicate striations of the natural material are also present, serving as a constant reminder that this dial is the genuine article, unlike many heavily treated MOP dials.

The diamond hour markers I mentioned earlier are housed inside 18ct Sedna™ gold settings that match the finish of the central hands. What I like about the dial is that it doesn’t feel like it’s verging on jewellery watch territory. The faceted hands are tool-like in shape, and the date window at 6 o’clock gives the watch a subtle sporty feel.
For the collector, the draw of this lady’s OMEGA Aqua Terra dial has to be its restraint and confidence. Yes, there is the use of diamonds, but honestly, the beautiful nuances come from the mother-of-pearl dial, which acts like the watch version of a mood ring. Forever interchangeable and effortlessly shimmering without even trying.
I mentioned that OMEGA’s ladies’ watches lack nothing in the way of functionality and practicality. The water-resistant rating of this watch is 150M. Need I say anymore? You perhaps wouldn’t want to wear this watch for swimming, snorkelling or water sports anyway, but the beauty lies within knowing that you could if you wanted to.
Inside the case is the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8801, and it is here that things become even more interesting. It’s not just another fancy movement. All of OMEGA’s movements are workhorse movements, and they have the badge to show it. This is a METAS-certified calibre with magnetic-resistant capabilities that protect the watch against magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. It features the brand’s signature Co-Axial escapement, which reduces friction and wear, resulting in an overall smoother and more accurate performance.

This movement stores up to 55 hours of power reserve, performing at a rate of 25,200 vibrations per hour. What’s more, OMEGA puts the movement’s Arabesque Geneva waves, rhodium-coated bridges and a golden rotor on show through a sapphire exhibiting caseback.
Finally, the bracelet OMEGA chooses for the Seamaster Aqua Terra is not an afterthought to the design. It’s a fully integrated bracelet, unlike some stiff and heavy designs on the market. It’s the fluidity of the links that makes all the difference here, smoothly articulating and feeling substantial rather than clunky. The deployant clasp is solid and secures with a satisfying click, too. I can operate it with one hand without worrying it’s going to slip off my wrist. Suffice it to say, this three-link bracelet is a prime example of a technically thoughtful element, designed with grace and elegance in mind.
Why I keep reaching for the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M 30mm 220.55.30.20.55.001
At each glance of the Aqua Terra 150M 30M watch, you can visibly see that OMEGA has cut no corners in producing what can only be described as a beautiful daily companion. The 18ct Sedna™ Gold case is substantial without feeling over-the-top, and the proportions are perfect for the female wrist
The diamond dot indexes on the white mother-of-pearl dial sparkle just enough, and the watch’s fail-proof, in-house mechanical movement and impressive water-resistant rating mean that you’ll want to pop this watch on at every excuse, even choosing it over anything else dressy in your collection.
When reviewing any luxury timepiece, I like to give myself some space away from the watch. It’s time that I usually use to process what I miss about it when it’s not on my wrist, or what I think it lacks when I return to it. Needless to say, I wanted to keep reaching for this watch. It seems like the only natural upgrade from anything that feels more decorative than horological, which a female collector might own.
If you’ve got this far, you’ll have realised this is far from just a diamond lady’s watch. It has brains and beauty, just like the kind of discerning collector it resonates with.
