For more than 160 years the Omega watch brand has been synonymous with excellence, precision and innovation and once again has created a timepiece that is unique and timeless. Just in time for the new president Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2008, Omega launched the re-edition of the watch worn by the U.S.A president John F. Kennedy. The original (shown below) is a treasured piece of history and is currently on display in the Omega Museum in Switzerland.

The special release is virtually identical to the original, The Omega “Ultra Thin†watch the president wore during his 1961 inauguration and throughout most of his presidency. Omega has limited the number of pieces made to a commemerative 261. These will feature the same square 18ct gold casing and glossy black crocodile strap.

John F Kennedy received the original watch as a gift before he became president. Jacqueline Kennedy even described the watch in a letter to a friend as “the thinnest most elegant wrist watchâ€. The letter also expressed that the president was thrilled with the watch and how he promptly took off the “chunky little one†his wife had given him. This letter along with the watch was originally part of a private collection of JFK memorabilia, was sold at auction to the Omega museum for a staggering $350,000 in December 2005.
