Rolex Stands Against the Elements

Considered a true diving watch amongst professionals, the Rolex Submariner was the first in the industry to successfully remain water proof to up to 300m, reinforcing Rolex’s status as the pioneer of innovative and original timepieces. An essential for many professional and military divers, Submariners can survive the most hostile of environments and have played an integral role in expeditions at both sea and overland.

This resilient watch has endured the ruthless conditions of the Antarctic; undoubtedly a feat which places the Submariner head and shoulders above its rivals. Able to withstand an outstanding minus 45 degrees Celsius and an excess of one thousand dives, it is the watch of choice for the Royal Navy and was standard issue for COMEX saturation divers, due to its unrivalled reliability and precision.

The unidirectional bezel allows the diver to memorize and keep track of immersion time. The bezel is only permitted to rotate counter clockwise, so that in case of accidental bezel movement the dive time can only reduce, preventing the dangers of being immersed for too long a period of time. The Submariner has a perpetual rotor in the self winding wrist watch mechanism which enables the watch to run continuously. Since the energy generated is stored in the mainspring, the watch can continue to function with optimum functionality for several days when not worn of the wrist.

Having appeared in eleven James Bond films, the Rolex Submariner is an iconic luxury watch which has evolved from a specialist tool watch, to one of the most sought after fashion accessories to date. The 1680 model was the first Submariner to be equipped with a date complication. The Rolex Submariner Date features luminescent numerals and hands, and a screw down crown with Triplock; a triple gasket system, which provides another layer of protection. Available in a variety of dial and ceramic bezel colours, the Submariner Date is distinctive, sophisticated and streamlined; yet another timeless classic from Rolex.
