“The World’s Biggest Timepiece Eventâ€, the Hong Kong Watch and Clock fair that takes place over the course of this week is well underway. This is the 29th Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair and it is billed as the largest trade show of its kind with over 700 exhibitors from 15 different countries displaying a fine array of watches and clocks.

The event takes place over the course of four days and there will be a number of representatives from nearly all the major watch brands present. Visitors to the fair can expect to see a whole host of stunning exhibits from leading watch manufacturers including a selection of the latest Rolex, Cartier, Breitling and Omega watches. There will be literally thousands of top of the range chronographs on display from all over the world and a number of influential figures in the watch industry will undoubtedly be in attendance.
From January to March of this year the Swiss watch industry reported exports worth $2.9 billion, and Hong Kong, as the world’s largest importer of luxury watches saw over $600 million of those exports ending up on their shores. With such a high number of luxury Swiss watches being exported to Hong Kong it is little wonder that this week’s trade show is regarded as one of the most important events for the industry this year.
With the market for luxury watches, Swiss models in particular, growing so rapidly in East Asia it seems as though manufacturers will be keeping a close eye on this market and the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair in particular.
