Watch Comparison: Ladies’ Quartz Triad

In a departure from our usual Watch of the Week feature, this week we are pleased to present a trio of ladies’ timepieces for your perusal. The current market for feminine wristwatches that combine sporting qualities with an elegance suitable for dress occasions is particularly strong, and the additional requirement for a rugged and reliable watch is also an ever present consideration. What may not be apparent to some is the sheer range of prestigious timepieces on offer that possess all of these merits, and here is a selection of three appropriately different offerings, from three different brand names, that have been identified by Banks Lyon Manager Bob Breden.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Watch

Twice featured on our Watch of the Week article, the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies watch was a natural choice for this special comparison. Perhaps leading the way in terms of heritage and instantly identifiable due to the distinctively striped dial, the 30mm case of this Seamaster has been elegantly reduced to fit around the feminine wrist. Omega has also combined different finishes upon this timepiece, with the case and bracelet displaying a matt finish, whilst the bezel and shoulders are finely polished in contrast. The bracelet of this watch uses a butterfly clasp requiring twin presses to operate (due to security), and also makes use of an easy to operate crown to adjust any function on the dial. No Seamaster would be complete without a robust water resistance, and this watch is therefore fully resistant up to 150 metres. With a 2 year guarantee, this classic wristwatch is brought to you by Banks Lyon for 36 monthly payments of £38.89 and a 20% deposit.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Watch

A total newcomer to our blog, this offering from TAG Heuer nevertheless matches up well to the established competition. Like the Seamaster, this petit TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch conforms to an all steel aesthetic, but is even smaller at only 27mm in diameter. Thanks to an especially readable layout though, this small size never attains any negative connotations, and ultimately adds to the Aquaracer’s overall appeal. Additionally, this timepiece also has a unidirectional rotating bezel that, whilst originally intended for diving, proves incredibly useful for measuring hourly intervals in everyday life. As one might expect from a timepiece with the name ‘Aquaracer’, this watch is water resistant to 300 metres, and comes with a 2 year guarantee that matches the Omega. Able to be extended to fit over an outer garment if necessary, this superbly designed timepiece retails at Banks Lyon for 36 monthly payments of only £26.56 alongside a 20% deposit.

Breitling Colt 33 Watch

Covered some months ago on Watch of the Week, this Breitling Colt 33 watch is the largest of these three timepieces, measuring in at 33mm, but possibly exudes the most personality as a result.  Inspired by the barrel of the famous Colt handgun, this wristwatch boasts shape in abundance, and also offers excellent visibility thanks to the clear ivory dial. Like the Aquaracer, the Colt 33 utilises a unidirectional time-lapse bezel, and typically conforms to a more polished finish in contrast to the more understated Omega. The crown enables a swift date change to rival this latter, but the Breitling also makes use of conceivably the most secure bracelet by way of a branded safety-catch. Excelling in terms of engineering via a 5 year warranty, and with a water resistance of 500 metres, the Colt 33 is in stock at Banks Lyon for 36 monthly payments of £49.33 and a 20% deposit; more than the price of its competitors, but still entirely justified.

Each of these three timepieces is a premier quality quartz watch that is both accurate and convenient by virtue of not needing to be wound. All similarly possess an end of life battery indicator that causes the second hand to jump 4 seconds when the lifespan of the movement is nearing its end. In terms of practicality, the Omega’s bracelet can be readily adjusted by virtue of the ‘half-link’ style, whilst the Breitling and the TAG Heuer use ‘pin and tube’ fittings on the bracelet to enable a comparably adaptable fit. Yet despite these similarities, each is still subtly different, and is a consummate ambassador for the growing market for sporty, yet graceful, ladies’ watches. At Banks Lyon, we possess an assortment of models for each of these ranges, as well as a large number of other Omega watches, TAG Heuer watches and Breitling watches in general, so do not hesitate to call us on 01524 38 48 58 if you’d like any additional information.
